The price of electricity is rising, and the construction of solar parks has become increasingly necessary in the agricultural sector.
01.01.2024There are decent tractors and other equipment, new barns, manure storages, and grain dryers, but it’s rare to find production units that cover their own company’s energy needs. Solar panels are only seen near residential buildings.
Renewable energy production is not only linked to reducing companies’ environmental impact and achieving climate goals, which can sometimes sound vague. For the farmer, the practical value of a solar park can be measured in concrete financial terms. In a situation where the price of electricity rises by an average of about 5% annually regardless of the region (Eurostat), having a personal power station becomes increasingly beneficial over time. In addition to energy independence and improved supply security, which are supported by production units scattered across the country owned by companies, it also allows for saving money.
Here is one assumption, however: the most important thing is that the farmer should be able to design the park based on their own consumption. Not all available space needs to be filled with solar panels unless it is an energy company. The most optimal option is for the company to consume its own production and thereby save money. Selling energy to the grid should be left to energy companies.
